Cryogenic insulation

Reduction in energy consumption

Reducing energy consumption and increasing energy efficiency are important measures to reduce emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. Cold insulation contributes directly to this. ALTRAD SERVICES Benelux experts are involved in the cryogenic isolation of the main LNG terminals in the Netherlands and Belgium. Our qualified and experienced professionals know all about developments regarding, work on and maintenance of LNG installations and the associated cryogenic insulation.

High-quality materials

Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) is stored and transported at -160 ⁰C. To guarantee this temperature, high-quality and strictly specified insulation is necessary. This may be, among other options, Polyisocyanate (PIR) rigid foam or 'cellular glass' insulation, which is present in multiple layers and combined with high-quality vapour barriers. Special packaging (such as stainless or aluminized steel and UV-resistant fiberglass-reinforced plastics) is placed around this to protect against mechanical and weather influences.

Industry standards

We use materials for cryogenic insulation for both the onsite insulation of piping and equipment and the offsite pre-insulation thereof. We apply these in accordance with the specifications of the LNG industry standards. Our well-trained employees follow strict procedures for quality control during application.
