Altrad and Shell Pernis team up for new sustainable project

ALTRAD SERVICES Benelux and Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam have officially signed a construction contract for the realisation of the construction of a biofuel plant on Shell's Pernis site. The signatures were placed during a ceremonial session by Rob Snoeren (Project Director HEFA project Pernis) and Fred Schuijt (Director Altrad Services Netherlands).

ALTRAD Services Benelux will act as scaffolding, insulation and electrical tracing contractor. Besides the final realisation on site, Altrad is also making a maximum contribution to optimising the 3D detail design and prefabrication of the insulation with a view to occupational safety, construction and effectiveness. Shell was impressed by the proposed procedures, the professional approach to presentation and our screening centre in Middelburg.

Biofuels can play a valuable role in reducing CO2 emissions from the transport sector in the coming decades. That is why Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam is investing in a plant where sustainable aviation fuel and renewable diesel will be produced from waste. Think of deep-frying fat and plant residues. This plant will be one of the largest of its kind in Europe, reducing CO2 emissions by 2.8 million tonnes per year. This is equivalent to taking over 1 million cars off the road in Europe.

Another great project for the coming years, in which ALTRAD SERVICES Benelux may contribute to a new sustainable industrial project!
